Art for Doing Your Part to Help the People of Ukraine

Sunflowers for Ukraine, 20″x16″, oil on panel by Kate Emery

The war in Ukraine has many people looking for ways to help. In alignment with her mission to give back through her art, Connecticut oil painter Kate Emery is donating 75% of proceeds from all art sales through April 30 to the nonprofit organization Razom, which is providing humanitarian aid, including medical aid, and assisting refugee centers, orphanages and other vetted charities. She is also offering art lovers a unique chance to bring home her original painting, Sunflowers for Ukraine (20″x16″, oil on panel, framed), by donating $10 or more to Razom.

There are two ways to earn entries for this giveaway. Write a check payable to Razom and mail it before April 30 to: Clatter Valley Studio, 74 Prattling Pond Road, Farmington, CT 06032. You’ll receive one entry for each $10 you give… a $50 donation, for example, earns five entries. Include a note with your email address for notification of results of the random drawing, to be held on April 30. Emery is also accepting donations via Venmo to @KateEmeryArt. Include your email address and “For Ukraine” in a note.

Emery will pass all contributions along directly to Razom. Whether you give $10, $100 or more, you’ll help to bring hope to people who are suffering. Sunflowers have long been a symbol of peace and optimism for Ukrainians. “My hope,” says Emery, “is that Ukraine will prevail, that democracy will prevail, and we will look back on this time as the wake-up call that turned us away from autocratic rule; away from deepening inequities in health, wealth and social status; and away from fossil fuels toward cleaner, renewable energy.”
