Nominate a Connecticut ‘Mom Hero’ for a Free Portrait Painting

Portrait of Mom

Connecticut fine artist Kate Emery is spending time with heroes in 2021 by painting portraits of both luminary individuals, like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Harriet Beecher Stowe, and local heroes nominated by their loved ones. With Mother’s Day approaching, Emery is seeking “Mom Hero” nominations, and she will select one Connecticut woman to receive a complimentary portrait in oil this Mother’s Day.

To nominate a mother whose heroism deserves recognition, email a clear, head and shoulders photo and the story of her strength and giving spirit to [email protected]. Nominations will be accepted through April 9, 2021.

A mom, entrepreneur and second-career artist, Emery donates one-third or more of the proceeds from all of her sales to community organizations. As the founder of The Walker Group, a Farmington-based professional technology services social enterprise, and reSET, a Hartford-based nonprofit that seeks to advance the social enterprise sector in the state, she’s been an innovator and a role model for business people who want their organizations to make a difference: not just a profit.

Emery now paints full-time in her Farmington Valley studio and offers works for sale online at KateEmery.com. Her work can also be seen at Art Gallery at Mill in Farmington and at the Connecticut Art Gallery at The Silo in New Milford. She accepts commissions for custom paintings of people, pets and beloved places.
